Bengt Sundström M.Sc ., Ph.D . - 1942 to 2010

I am sad to inform you that Bengt Sundström passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday 12th October 2010. Bengt was a friend to all interested in clematis, a Member of the British Clematis Society since 1999 and until recently a Council Member of the International Clematis Society. He also helped to run the Swedish Clematis Society

Bengt married to Magnus Johnson's daughter Karin, was responsible for much of the work in the editing and publication Magnus's book " Släktet Klematis " and the translation into English " The Genus Clematis ".

Many of you will remember Bengt talking fondly about his father-in-law's work at our 2007 AGM. I will always remember his total joy in his stay with Pauline McCullock and her husband at their home along side the canal at Lymm. He loved boats and the trip in their narrow boat along with their knowledge of the canals delighted him.

Such a warm and friendly man who will be very much missed
