I'm trying to find out whether the following hybrids set seed - profusely, sparsely or not at all. Can you help with any of them?

Candida
Ramona (Hybrida Sieboldii)
Mrs Hope
Blue Gem
Prins Hendrik
Princess of Wales (the original, not Princess Diana)
Belle Nantaise
Otto Froebel
W. E. Gladstone

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,
in my experience the following:

Candida - sparce
Ramona - Moderate
Mrs Hope - never grown this myself so dont know.
Blue Gem - moderate
Prins Hendrik - sparce
Princess of Wales (Princess Diana) if this is the texensis type then they are one in the same plant - moderate
Belle Nantaise - moderate
Otto Froebel - profuse
W.E Gladstone - sparce

I have grown all of these bar Mrs Hope. Some in containers and others in the ground so this will have affected them to a certain extent but only mildly because they would have been large containers.
Hope it helps.

Fantastic info Peter, Many Thanks.

I'd just about given up getting anything as they so often get pruned off!
By Princess of Wales I meant Jackman's 1875 large-flowered lanuginosa type hybrid.

Hello Peter,
I was interested in your reply to the seed viability questions from Paul , I have tried for years to get seeds from C.princess diana , but the ones that I have managed to fertilize have never developed enough to germinate ,  I do have
C.texensis , which this year has a lot of seed .  I must admit I have never tried to back cross C.princess diana with C.texensis , but I will next year .  To be truthful It never entered my mind until I looked at your mail.  Thank for the stimulation
Regards Ron.C
