Today this very fragrant Clematis has almost all the buds open. It is a young plant.

Hi Ton
It is very early for these flowers - is it Clematis Tongluensis? Is it planted outside?
Ton - I now think this is clematis armandii - is it the one you received from China labelled as Clematis courtoisii?
