I thought that as I have seen quite a few recent pics of atragenes etc. newly budding up, that I would, as it were, shove a spanner in the works and post today's picture of one of the first hirsutissima buds of the year!

Looking forward to seeing that Keith, looks very nice. Talking of budding-up here are two of those new seedlings patens x texensis, though whether the crosses have worked I'm not so sure, we'll see when the flowers are nearer being ready! They are roughly on target for the end of April.
![]() ![]() Everything is now going strongly and extension growth is well under way in most plants.
![]() ![]() ![]() Quite a few plants this year but so far so good. Glad to finally get the re-potting finished yesterday.
And one or two more pics here http://www.bcollingwood.com/archive_2007.htm Edited by bcollingwood - 12 Mar 2007 at 4:57pm |

They're not all new, Ton, some are from last year of course, and others are from previous seasons - I am just updating my list...there are some new unflowered seedlings for this year; plus all from last, some flowered, some not flowered yet; plus others various, some flowered, some not flowered yet.

Congratulations, Keith. We are far behind you here. I
checked my outdoor clematis yesterday and couldn't find any new growth
buds quite yet. Hopefully soon !
Brian, one could have surgery in your immaculate greenhouse. I'm anxious for your flower show to begin ! Suzy |

Hi Mariko, nice to speak again; I would imagine you too must be getting pretty busy again now with all your plants and seedlings. I was wondering if you could use some spare texensis seeds - if so I can send some to you, if of use. Suzy we've had a relatively warm start with just a few colder spells, so with a bit of luck some flowers from late April. Having said that it has turned quite cold again just now, and the 'house was like a fridge today. In previous years I've always found March 15th or thereabouts as a trigger point, so whether warm or cool for sure there will be a big spurt of growth in the 'house beginning about now. Outdoors my alba luxurians is now completely full of copious new growth and already going strong.
Here's a lovely little seedling, its a little different at this point. At first it produces a thicket of small new vines, quite dense, but almost dwarf in character- they sit still for a time and then some shoots suddenly burst into extension growth. This year I'm fairly sure it will flower, so it'll be interesting to see what comes of her, you never know!

Hi Mariko,
I have sorted out a couple of plants for you, which I can send bare-rooted, If you will send me your address, so that I know where to send them. If you have already given me your address, I apologise, but when I changed broadband suppliers I lost a lot of my previous e-mail messages.
Regards,
Keith
