I got seeds from the BCS seed exchange last year, but I don't remember how I paid for it.  A bank check certainly would not work, and I don't see anything on the booklet.  How did I do it last year?  More importantly, how do I do it now.  Anyone know?

Thanks.

Hi Mike,
I think there are really only two easy methods available to overseas members without incurring considerable cost.
Either you can send cash with your application (which can obviously be a bit risky) or you can use PayPal to send money directly to the treasurer. If you log into PayPal there is a Tab at the top whech says 'Send Money'. Enter the treasurers email address 'charlesehills@aol.co.uk' and the amount you wish to send. Also enter into the comment box the reason for the money transfer (otherwise he wont know why you have sent money).
I suggest on your seed application form you write on it that you have paid the treasurer using Paypal.
Apart from these two options I cannot suggest any easier alternative at the moment.

i will email the treasurer with this PayPal option and ask if there are any other alternatives.

Regards

Steve

Well, I tried what you suggested, Steve, but Charles said that it won't work that way, that he won't take a PayPal transfer directly to his own email address.  He says I should use this site, but I don't see a place for that, other than to pay for a membership via PayPal.  You can't change the amount via those tabs, so I can't pay for my 4 seed packets.

Brian Collingwood offered to mail them to me if I can't figure this out, but am I the only non-UK member who wants seeds but can't pay with pounds?  There has to be an easier way?  In order to mail cash, I'd have to go to a bank and exchange dollars for pounds first, of course, so that's not the best option either.

Am I missing a pay-for-seed-exchange Paypal tab here somewhere?

Hey Mike for that kind of quantity just let me know what you want and I will sort out to get the seeds sent, and then in the fullness of time perhaps you could send me something, this side of the pond we are always keen to get hold of American species and hybrid seed if any becomes available. But as a one-off if you did want to do it formally and send money whichever way, I'd just pay it to the BCS next day. Smile

Hi Mike,

This is somewhat confusing to me as a couple of days ago Charles (our treasurer) seemed to think it should be OK, but I am making some more enquiries on this as you are not the only one trying to make payment from overseas. The membership secretary is telling everyone to use PayPal but I had never originally set it up or advertised for it to be used on this basis!! This hastened my investigations into this method of payment (which seemed quite possible and easily transacted) so Charles has got me totally confused. Just another headache for me to try and sort out.

As ever Brians generous offer may solve your problem.

Regards

Charles' email to me stated to send to his address which ends "...aol.com", but here you've suggested "...aol.co.uk"  I sent money to the second one, but he's saying he hasn't gotten it.  Perhaps the first one is correct?
