To shade or not to shade clem roots? I have some planted through an obelisk ,cannot think what I could wrap around the base of Obelisk, to shade and or keep the foxes from breaking stems ,any ideas will be very welcome thanks.

Have you tried mulching? Some folk use tiles or similar to shade. I'm afraid these just attract the molluscs.
I find a smooth small stone gravel quite useful. Other folk have had success with bark, coco shell and coir.
Have no experience with foxes.
